Loreal Goggins, 26, of Augusta, Georgia was arrested Friday evening after her 2-year-old son barely escaped injury after falling out of a 2-story window. Goggins was not home at the time, she had reportedly left the toddlers at home alone while she went to donate plasma.
A neighbor contacted police after he saw one of the 2-year-old boys holding on to a window ledge. He apparently instructed the tot to let go and promised to catch him. The boy landed safely into the man’s arms.
When police arrived, they found the boys by themselves in an apartment without electricity. The apartment door was reportedly kept secure by a chord between the door knob and the outside hall banister. Should a fire have erupted, the children would not have been able to get out.
The boys were removed from the home and placed in the custody of their grandmother. Goggins has been charged with two counts each of deprivation to a minor and cruelty to children.
According to The Augusta Chronicle, Goggins told the police she had been gone 2 hours and left the children sleeping while she ran her errand.
