The body of a 5-year-old girl was discovered inside a Seaman, Ohio garage on Sunday afternoon. Police believe the youngster was likely murdered. According to the Highland County Sheriff’s Office, paramedics were called to the house just before 1 pm on Sunday afternoon by an unidentified female who said she found an unresponsive child in her garage. The relationship between the female and the child has not yet been released.
Police say they found the little girl in a container believed to be a feeding trough. Police apprehended a 38-year-old man in connection to the crime and brought him in for questioning. Charges have not been filed, however, a news conference is scheduled for late morning on Monday when charges are expected to be announced.
Several search warrants were issued late Sunday and police spent the entire night at the home, going through the garbage and scouring for clues.
According to WKRC, the man brought in for questioning as the primary person of interest is not the girl’s father and is not related to the victim.
The girl’s body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroners Office in Dayton, Ohio where the coroner will conduct an autopsy.
