An 11-year-old boy and his 12-year-old brother were playing with shotguns outside of Houston, Texas when the 12-year-old accidentally shot his younger brother, killing him. The bullet struck the younger brother in the left shoulder, causing fatal injuries.
The boys were reportedly at home alone on Sunday when the incident happened. Their parents were at work. According to the Waller County Sheriff’s report, the older brother called his mother to notify her that his younger brother was hurt. The mother reportedly drove home and called 911. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
The boys apparently found the shotguns, a 12-guage and 20-guage, inside their parent’s bedroom closet.
Charges against the parents have not yet been filed. Police believe the incident was an accident. The older boy was released into the custody of his parents after police questioned him.
