Rocker dad Billie Joe Armstrong, 40, of Green Day fame is joining forces with Christina Aguilera in the panel of judges/coaches on NBC’s ‘The Voice’. The show seems to be competing in a highly visible rock star competition of their own, vying for the most popular judges as competitors ‘American Idol’ just announced Mariah Carey to their judging line-up and ‘The X-Factor’, who recently announced they’ll be adding Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to their line-up.
Armstrong claimed that he and his family are avid watchers of ‘The Voice’ and said in a statement that he likes how the show develops it’s talent instead of “giving them a complete makeover.”
Armstrong has two sons, Joseph Marciano Armstrong, 17 and Jakob Danger Armstrong, 13 with his wife of 18 years, Adrienne Nesser.
Armstrong will be joined with other coaches previously announced for ‘The Voice’s’ line-up, including Cee-Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. The new season of ‘The Voice’ is set to premiere on September 10, 2012.
