Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise out and about in NYC after a divorce settlement is reached between Holmes and Tom Cruise. Screen shot via MSNBC.
Glimpses of Katie Holmes divorce settlement are coming to light as NBC News reports that the daughter of Holmes and Tom Cruise will be attending a prestigious Catholic school in Manhattan this fall. The school, Sacred Heart, has had it’s share of rich and famous alumni. Prior students include Caroline Kennedy, Lady Gaga, and Paris Hilton.
The decision to enroll Suri Cruise, 6, into a Catholic school has people speculating that Suri’s religious upbringing was part of the divorce settlement agreement which took only a few days to reach.
Suri’s father, Tom Cruise, is known for his very public involvement in Scientology, a controversial religion described by some as a cult. The basic tenets of Scientology seek to discredit psychiatry and subscribe to the belief of reincarnation and “past lives”. Many of the churches teaching are offered to those who submit sizable donations according to Wikipedia.
Holmes has recently rented an apartment in NYC and plans to live there full time with Suri (sans Tom). Her recent public appearances and reported reconnection with her Catholic roots have been seen by media outlets as a public relations campaign designed to kick start her career and convince the public that she’s no longer associated with Scientology, without having to verbally denounce Scientology. A non-disclosure agreement may be part of the settlement as well and a reason why Tom is allowing Holmes such control over parental rights, education and religion.
