After five years of marriage, Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are calling it quits.
People magazine reports Holmes has filed for divorce from Cruise citing irreconcilable differences.
“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” Jonathan Wolfe, Holmes’s attorney, said in a statement. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it has always been, her daughter’s best interest.”
The couple married back in 2006 and have a 6-year-old daughter, Suri.
Holmes is asking for sole legal custody and primary residential custody.
A rep for Cruise says the actor is “deeply saddened” about the divorce.
This was the first marriage for Holmes and the third for Cruise.
