Daniel Graf, a 32-year-old man from California, is being charged with attempted murder after trying to strangle his 3-month-old baby in the parking lot of a Wal-Mart on Friday night.
Graf was at the Wal-Mart at 7010 Auburn Blvd in Citrus Heights to meet with his estranged wife. The two started arguing about custody of the baby, when she called 911. When the police arrived, Graf threatened to kill his baby and began to strangle it. a police officer was able to apply a choke hold on Graf, rendering him unconscious. He was then taken into custody. The baby was taken to the hospital and is expected to be fine.
Graf is being held without bail at Sacramento County Jail, and is charged with attempted murder, causing a child to suffer physical pain, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license. He was in court for the first time on Tuesday, and only spoke to ask for a public defender. His next court date is July 5th.
