In a devastating accident, a 7-year-old boy in Lancaster, California was found hanging from a tree in his back yard by the belt on his karate uniform. On Friday night, Aaris Conway went out to the back yard of his home on the 1000 block of Angela Court to play. When things got quiet after about 20 minutes, his mother, Evelyn Briggs, and another of her sons went out to look for Aaris. They found him strangled and hanging from a tree.
Briggs described her pain to a CBS2 Los Angeles reporter: “He likes to climb in the tree,” his mother says, “and it’s such a tragedy. Tangling and choking on his belt. It’s horrible.” His mother believes his belt got caught when he tried to jump out of the tree. She tried to revive him until an ambulance arrived, but was unable to get a response.
