Dad kills boy’s mom, tells him to call 911

“My dad just killed my mom. … She’s laying in the grass in front of our apartment.” A 13-year-old boy from Grove City, Ohio told this to a 911 dispatcher around 9:00 AM on Sunday morning.

According to The Columbus Dispatch in Columbus, Ohio, the boy and his 4-year-old sister had been on a weekend visit with their father, 38-year-old Jeremy A. Roberts. On Sunday morning, their mother, 36-year-old Candice R. Roberts came to the father’s apartment to pick the children up after the visit.

Roberts and his ex-wife reportedly had a brief argument outside before he fatally stabbed her. Neighbors informed police that the father appeared to have wielded a large kitchen knife. He also allegedly covered the body with a blue sheet.

The father then asked his son to call 911. After talking to the dispatcher, the boy handed the phone to his father. His father reportedly told the dispatcher that he would give more details when authorities arrived and asked to hug and kiss his children one more time. Roberts also told the children that their 16-year-old sister would be capable of taking care of them.

Kayla Roberts, the 16-year-old, was not at the apartment during the tragic incident. She told 10 TV in Ohio that when she heard the news, “I immediately fell to the ground in shock. I’m still in shock.”

Kayla stated that her parents rarely fought. She believes that her father ‘snapped’ for no reason.

Roberts has been taken into custody and has been charged with murder.

10 TV reports that the 13-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl are in the custody of their grandmother.
