Sunday started off with a bang for a La Puente, California family. The Diaz family woke up around 5:25 AM on Sunday morning when they heard a loud bang. When the family looked outside to survey the situation, they found that a silver Lexus had landed into their pool.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune reports that Modesto Cabral, 40, had been driving under the influence and crashed through a cinder block wall surrounding the backyard early Sunday morning. The car finally came to a stop in the pool. Other motorists have hit the wall after trying to navigate a nearby intersection, but no one has ever ended up in the pool.

Janelle Diaz, 16, said, “We had always joked around about it – that someone was going to end up in the pool – because they’ve hit our wall before.”

The driver sustained minor injuries. California Highway Patrol Officer Steve Licon revealed that Cabral was able to exit the vehicle through the front passenger side window.

Cabral has been charged with driving under the influence and is set to be arraigned today.

ABC News reports that a crane has been used to remove the 2006 Lexus from the family’s pool. Although not the way one would want a Lexus to appear at their home, the Diaz family does have an interesting story to tell.
