A North Brunswick, NJ, special education teacher’s aide employed by North Brunswick Township High School has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl on seperate occasions.
According to a report by NJToday, Derrick Weeks, 34, of North Brunswick was arrested and charged on May 11 with endangering the welfare of a minor and the aggravated sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual contact of the 15-year-old girl, and endangering the welfare of a minor and committing an aggravated sexual assault and a sexual assault upon the 6-year-old girl.
Police said that Weeks did not meet his victims through his job at the North Brunswick school and the charges do not stem from his duties or employment from the school. However, Weeks was suspended from his job after his arrest.
According to a report by NJ.com, police said that Weeks sexually assaulted the 15-year-old girl on numerous occasions between January 2011 and the summer of 2011. Weeks sexually assaulted the younger girl on April 28, 2012, the police said.
The investigation began after the mother of one of the victims contacted police.
Weeks is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick on $300,000 bail.
