This Mother’s Day will certainly be different for Mayra Gonzalez’s family. The 32-year-old mother of three allegedly told police that she had a baby with her daughter’s 16-year-old boyfriend, KSEE 24 in Fresno, California reports.
Gonzalez, of Santa Ana, California, was arrested Thursday on charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor under 16 and oral copulation with a minor under 18. The alleged relationship occurred between July and December of last year. Gonzalez gave birth to a son that she claims is the teenager’s six weeks ago. Police are currently awaiting the results of a paternity test.
Neighbors had noticed that Gonzalez was spending a lot of time at the boy’s home while his parents were away. Police were first alerted to the relationship by a neighbor.
Santa Ana Police Corporal Anthony Bertagna told KNX 1070 in Los Angeles, “Apparently, it was continuously happening until people in the neighborhood saw it was going on. They confronted the victim in this case, he confessed to the fact that it was happening.”
Gonzalez reportedly confessed to police that she is in love with the boy.
If convicted, Gonzalez could face a maximum of sentence of seven years and eight months in jail as well as possible lifetime registration as a sex offender.
