Jada Pinkett Smith speaks out about divorce rumors

Jada Pinkett Smith has no idea where the rumors started that her and husband Will Smith are heading for a divorce, but she’s eager for them to end.

In a new interview with French magazine Gala and excerpted in People, she speaks out about all the speculation that her relationship is heading for splitsville.

“I have no idea [where this came from]! Every year, one celebrity couple is under the microscope,” she said. “This year, unluckily it’s us! I almost want to say that we should have been expecting it.”

The gossip started in August of last year that the marriage between Pinkett and Smith was on the rocks, coming as a shock to many that the seemingly happy couple of 15 years.

It was a shock to Will and Jada as well, who issued a joint statement at the time saying, “Although we are reluctant to respond to these types of press reports, the rumors circulating about our relationship are completely false. We are still together, and our marriage is intact.”

But the divorce speculation still lives on, possibly because the pair’s careers often find them in different parts of the world.

“I travel a lot because of my work, just like Will does… [Even] before we had the kids, we were already far away from each other quite often because of separate projects.”

She also called the rumor that the two lived in separate homes “ridiculous.”

“Will and I know the truth,” she added. “We’re waiting peacefully for the storm to blow over.”
