While she’s madly in love with her new son, actress Hilary Duff really didn’t get into the whole pregnancy thing.

“A part of me isn’t like those women who love being pregnant,” Duff said in an interview with Parade.

“I love my baby and I miss that feeling of being attached to him when he’s kicking, but I was so ready to not be pregnant,” she said.

Duff was, however, in amazement of the whole pregnancy process.

“It is incredible what your body can do,” Duff said. “You can appreciate all of your imperfections because you have a beautiful baby who came from you and all that you went through.”

Speaking of imperfections, Duff said she’s enjoying some career downtime to take advantage of not having to be in a rush to shed off the baby weight.

“I don’t have a project waiting on me that I have to bust my butt to get into shape for so it’s more about how I feel,” she said. “I like working out since it makes me feel more clear-headed and positive.”

Duff and her husband, retired hockey star Mike Comrie, welcomed their son Luca Cruz on March 20.

And while Duff may not have loved pregnancy, she does see the allure of giving Luca a baby brother or sister, even if it’s not right away.

“My sister [Haylie] and I are very close so I want Luca to have someone close [to his age] — but not too close,” Duff said.
