The Los Angeles county coroner has now confirmed that Whitney Houston had cocaine in her system when she died and that a white powdery substance was found all over her hotel room. The coroner reported that white powder was found in Houston’s drawers, in the bathroom where she drowned, along with a portable mirror and a “rolled up piece of white paper”.
Also found scattered throughout her hotel room were various form of prescription drugs.
While the coroner’s full report only suggests what may have lead up to Houston’s drowning, the final cause of death remains accidental drowning, not what caused her to drown. Contributing factors which lead up to the cause of death was likely a heart condition coupled with the use of drugs. Her heart disease was likely exacerbated or caused by her drug use.
According to the report, Houston was found in her hotel bathtub on February 11, 2012, with blood coming from her nose. She was face down when members of her staff found her. While efforts were made to revive her, they were unsuccessful.
