A young mother is behind bars today after attacking a woman with razor blades attached to her fingers and throwing her infant daughter on the ground. The Indianapolis mother, Desirae Loftus, 21, reportedly went ballistic and attacked Rushell Manning, 27 for reasons which are currently unknown. Loftus, who was accompanied by her baby’s father, Todd Arnold, was carrying her 2-month old daughter, Mariah, in her car seat seconds before the altercation. In a fit of rage, Loftus allegedly threw the car seat on the ground in what witnesses are calling a total disregard for the baby’s well being.
The victim’s sister-in-law, Tara Manning, said that the car seat landed upside-down, with the infants face landing on the ground.
Arnold said he rushed to Mariah’s aid and was relieved to find her unharmed.
Not so lucky was Rushell Manning, who suffered numerous razor blade cuts, including one to the eye that Fox 59 reports may leave the victim blind.

The weapons used in the attack were a series of ‘razor rings’. The victim’s boyfriend, Damien Franklin, described the finger-tipped razors as:
“…like rings with blades on them like eagle talons.”
Franklin was able to subdue Loftus while someone called police. Loftus was arrested on two counts of battery and child neglect.
Rushell Manning suffered multiple slash wounds, many of which were superficial. She did have to get stitches on her face. The extent of damage to her eye however, has yet to be determined. Ms. Manning says of her eye injury, “I can see a little bit, but it’s blurry not like I’m supposed to.”
