The Central Special Investigations unit of the Chicago police is investigating a report that was filed today alleging that a criminal sexual assault of a student occurred at a public school in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood.
Police said the report was filed at 9:30 Friday morning about an incident that reportedly occurred at Kinzie Elementary School. The Chicago police department would not provide any details about the alleged victim or confirm if they were a student at the school, but Chicago Public School officials confirmed the alleged victim was a student. School officials did not share many other details, citing privacy concerns.
School officials released a statement saying, “We were just made aware of the allegation this afternoon. Once they were notified, the school acted immediately to notify the appropriate authorities. CPS has launched an investigation into the matter and the staff person in question has been removed from the school while the investigation is underway.”
Chicago Public School officials did not release any details about the staff person mentioned in the statement.
