Kelly Clarkson is making her way back to reality TV familiarity as one of the celebrity stars of the new music talent show ‘Duets’ this summer. Clarkson will join other music legends and talents such as Lionel Ritchie, Sugarland’s Jennifer Nettles and Canadian R&B singer Robin Thicke as they travel across the U.S. in search of undiscovered vocal talent.
Each veteran, chart topping singer will be paired with the ‘yet to be discovered’ talent of their choice, performing duets together. The celebrity singers will also mentor their chosen talent and fans will be able to call in to vote for their favorite new singing sensation. The winner will receive a recording contract from Disney’s Hollywood Records.
Clarkson, the first American Idol winner in 2002 told TV Guide how excited she was to be part of the new singing competition:
“The simple fact that I get to go out and find two people that I believe in, sing with them every week, and help them accomplish their dream is an amazing thing that I can’t wait to be a part of.”
The show is actively recruiting contestants for the show which is scheduled to premiere this Summer 2012. If you’re at least 18, applications are currently being accepted. You can apply by emailing your name, age, occupation, location, contact information and two recent photos to duetscasting2012@yahoo.com. In the subject line include the singer you’d like to perform duets with and why you think you should be on the show.
