California teacher dumps family to be with 18-year-old student

Teacher James Hooker resigns after leaving his family to be with an 18-year-old student

The Modesto Bee is reporting that a local teacher is under investigation after his relationship with an 18-year-old student was made public. James Hooker, 41, recently left his wife and children to move into an apartment with Jordan Powers. Hooker met Powers when she was a freshman. Both are saying that the relationship is consensual and did not develop until after she turned 18.

Jordan’s mother disclosed the relationship to police after finding out through text messages that she read on her daughter’s phone. School officials were quick to respond to the allegations and suspended Hooker from his teaching position. Hooker resigned three weeks later and Powers is currently on independent study but plans to graduate in May.

Police are continuing their investigation to determine if there is any evidence that the relationship started before Powers was 18. The girl’s family and the community are shocked and express an overwhelming sense disapproval and betrayal.

    In almost 80% of the cases, when a girl that age get marry or cohabit with men, regardless of their age, they breakup before age 24. This is the point when they become adults, and their whole view of the world, and those around them, changes. This even includes any children she may have by than. Yes, they will be breaking within the next five years, if not much sooner, but likely not before she has at least one child so that she can get him for child support.

    This kind of thing is common. With the growing shortage of young men as a result of the dropping birth rates of male children since 1980, the only option this young girls have is to go for someone much older, or much younger. They are Master Manipulators of males of any age, with 20% of teen girls wanting to be teen mothers.

    What he has done is wrong, and he will regret it sooner than later. I work with divorced and single fathers, but these are the type of guys that there are times when I wish for a baseball bat and their heads on a platter.
