The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has announced a recall by Britax on some of their Chaperone Infant Child Restraint systems. The NHTSA found during testing that if a harness adjuster detaches from the seat, a child might not be properly restrained.
Britax is offering replacement kits for free. Kits were made available starting February 7, 2012. If you own a Chaperone car seat in which the harness adjuster has already become detached, then Britax has offered to replace the harness.
Owners in possession of one of these recalled systems can contact Britax at 888-427-4829 or visit their website.
The defective harnesses were part of systems produced from 9/10 through 4/11.
