Naked and bloody toddler and woman found in Fresno, Calif.

A screaming, bloody, half naked toddler was found at an apartment complex in Fresno, Calif., apparently abandoned. Police believe she was left there by a woman whom the Fresno police believe not to be the child’s mother.

The unidentified woman was found in a similar condition as the toddler, several streets away from the youngster. Police believe the woman had some mental impairments but wouldn’t specifically state what type of impairment. When police spotted the woman, she apparently took off running but police were able to catch her.

A neighbor called police after hearing a young child screaming and crying outside the Foxwood apartments. She explained to CBS 47 News that when she looked out of her window of her apartment complex, she saw a little girl, naked and bloody.

The neighbor also told CBS 47 News:

“When she turned to my side, I saw all the blood coming from head to toe.”

Police say they don’t believe the toddler was abducted and that evidence suggests the woman was the girls’ acquaintance or relative. Witnesses told the police that they thought they saw someone hitting or beating a small child. Police describe the woman as being a Hispanic female, in her mid to late 20s.

The toddler is expected to make a fully recovery and has since been turned over to Child Protective Services.
