The Pierce County Washington state Sheriff’s office have made a bold and charitable move to prevent Joshua Powell, the father who took an axe to his two young sons and then blew them up in a successful murder/suicide tragedy, from being buried next to his victims. Josh Powell’s relatives wanted him buried next to his sons but Sgt. Ed Troyer and Sheriff Paul Pastor of Pierce County Washington believe that to be a disgrace. Charlie and Braden, ages 7 and 5, were brutally murdered by their own father when he cut their throats with an axe and blew up the home where they boy’s came to visit him, a visitation ordered by the courts.
When news got out that the murderer’s family planned to bury the man who callously took the boy’s young lives, Sgt. Troyer and part of the investigative team went into action. Yesterday, Sgt. Toyer tweeted:
“Crime Stoppers just purchased the cemetary plots next to the Powell boys. We own the plots on both sides of the single grave the boys are in.”
Powell’s family, insisting that the man responsible for children’s death, be buried at the same cemetery, have tried to buy a plot about 25 feet away from the boys. The sale has been a hold however, as Susan Cox Powell’s family seek legal action to stop the purchase. The boys mother has been missing since December of 2009 and Josh Powell has long been considered a prime suspect in her disappearance. She is without a plot because her body was never found.
