PA Police: Dad of newborn shot and killed over dog poop

A Philadelphia man is dead after his neighbor accosted him over his dog’s behavior. According to Philly police, Tyrirk Harris, 27, confronted his neighbor, Franklin Manuel Santana, 47, about his loose dogs defecating on several people’s property. Apparently, the dispute over Santana’s dogs and their poop was a point of contention between the feuding neighbors for a long time.

Inspector Small told NBC Philadelphia:

“We don’t believe this to be an isolated incident. There have been arguments over these dogs in the past.”

Harris was charged with murder after he went over to Santana’s house and used a 9-mm handgun to shoot the victim point blank. Harris was in the possession of the gun illegally, having once held a gun permit, it had been revoked before the shooting occurred. One neighbor said that Santana didn’t do anything in self defense because he was so shocked at what was happening. Santana is survived by his wife and 6-week old baby daughter.

The victim’s dogs, a German Shepherd and Chihuahua, were known for roaming the neighborhood say neighbors, and using neighbors lawns as their bathroom, but one neighbor put it into perspective when she said, “No one should die over a dog.”
