Effective this Monday, Pottstown Middle School students in Pennsylvania will be prohibited from wearing most fashion boots to school. Principal Gail Cooper sent a letter home with the students earlier this week informing parents that certain boot styles, such as the enormously popular Ugg boots, cannot be worn by students while class is in session. She went on to explain, if girls wish to wear the boots to school, they must change into other shoes before school starts and store the boots in their locker.
The Mercury reported that John Armato, the director of community relations for the Pottstown School District, reasoned the decision to fix the problem of girls hiding cell phones inside these slip on boots. He also confirmed that most of the issues have been with the ‘Ugg’ style boots.
The school has a strict ‘no cell-phone’ policy which states that mobile devices must be kept in the student’s locker from first to last bell.
