An amphibian expert believes a snake like the one pictures, coin-marked (Hemorrhois nummifer) snake was the kind a toddler chewed on. Screen shot via You Tube.

A northern Israeli mother was shocked and dismayed when she went to bring her toddler son a bottle his bottle and found that he had a real live snake in his mouth. The thirteen month old toddler, Imad Aleeyan,  had literally chewed the head of an almost foot long snake.

Upon hearing the screams of the mother, family and neighbors rushed in to find out what was going on. One neighbor pulled the snake from the boy’s mouth and killed it. She told the AFP that the tot started crying when she took it from him. She also reported that the snake’s head was pretty gnawed up.

One snake expert, Dr. Boaz Shacham, said that the snake appeared to be a young, non-venous species which tends to be less active in the winter — one reason it may not have bit the youngster.

The toddler was taken to the hospital and found to be unharmed.
