Mark Wahlberg is apologizing for 9/11 remarks
The events of 9/11 would have been much different if only actor Mark Wahlberg had been on one of the planes used to destroy the World Trade Center.
According to Wahlberg himself, anyway.
In a new interview with Men’s Health magazine (hat tip WWTDD), Wahlberg was asked about what he would have done if he had been on one of the 9/11 planes.
“If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn’t have went down like it did,” Wahlberg answered. “There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, ‘OK, we’re going to land somewhere safely, don’t worry.”
Wahlberg had been booked on one of the ill-fated flights, but last minute plan changes found him traveling to the Toronto Film Festival instead.
A few years later, Wahlberg said about missing that flight, “I don’t think about it that much. I don’t think ‘What if I was on that plane?’ I think about all the people that were in that building and what could happen next.”
Apparently Wahlberg changed his mindset and started thinking about it more, imagining himself a real life action hero.
Wahlberg is already backtracking on his comments, telling TMZ, “To speculate about such a situation is ridiculous to begin with.”
“I deeply apologize to the families of the victims that my answer came off as insensitive, it was certainly not my intention,” Wahlberg added.
