Casey Anthony has resurfaced online
Casey Anthony, the Florida woman who was acquitted for the murder of her daughter, Caylee, has resurfaced in an online video diary.
Anthony has been in hiding since being found not guilty in July of last year, but a new video that she made in October has surfaced on the web.
In the video, Anthony changed up her look since the trial, with short blonde hair and dark rimmed glasses, saying that she’s “extremely excited” about her new computer and internet connection that will allow her “to Skype and obviously keep a video log” while she serves her one year of probation for a check fraud conviction.
“This has just been such a blessing in so many ways,” Anthony says. “And now I, in some ways, have someone to talk to when I’m by myself so I’m not bothering the poor dog who I’ve adopted and I love and he’s as much my dog as any of the other pets I’ve ever had.”
Anthony hinted that more video entries were in the works, saying, “I’ll probably do another one later… maybe I’ll bring the dog, who knows?”
But those future video diaries may never be seen, as apparently the videos were for Anthony’s private use and not meant to be made public.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Anthony’s attorney J. Cheney Mason said that the video was “unauthorized” and “inappropriate” and is looking into how it made its way online. He added that Anthony’s computer may have been hacked, and that she is keeping the video diary for “future counseling purposes.”
Attorney and legal commentator Mark NeJame disagreed with Mason that the video was unintentionally leaked, reportedly saying he thinks “it’s orchestrated with the intent to gauge public opinion for future opportunities,” and that “the content of what she said was so self-absorbed that it could hardly be anybody but her.”
Besides creating a new wave of criticism across the Internet, the video may also affect a lawsuit against Anthony by Zenaida Fernandez-Gonzalez, who is claiming defamation after Anthony said Fernandez-Gonzalez had kidnapped Caylee.
Fernandez-Gonzalez’s attorney, John Morgan, is using the video to request a judge compel Anthony to testify in the defamation case.
