A 17-year old worker at a haunted house in the St. Louis area is in critical condition following what appears to be an unfortunate accident. The girl was found unconscious with a noose around her neck by another employee of the haunted house.
The noose was used as a prop in the haunted attraction, which is set up like a haunted town, with various settings for patrons to visit. Officials believe that the injury is the result of an unfortunate accident, but investigators are still determining how the girl, who was hired as an actress by Creepyworld, ended up entangled in the noose.
According to Captain Ron Arnhart of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, there was a bathtub near where the girl was found, and “it looks like her feet may have slipped.”Arnhart also stated that the 17-year-old girl, whose name has not yet been released, is in critical but guarded condition at a local hospital, according to the St. Louis Post Dispatch.
Creepyworld is owned and operated by Halloween Productions Inc., which owns several other haunted attractions. Company president Larry Kirchner refused to discuss the incident, or the company’s safety standards, according to the Standard-Examiner.
Officials believe that patrons of Creepyworld may have walked past the unconscious teen, believing that she was a prop designed to be a part of the attraction.
