Kroger employee hits bump in parking lot, infant falls to his death
A 3 month old infant who was laying in a car carrier while perched upon the toddler compartment of a grocery cart has fallen to his death. The freak accident occurred after the mother and a Kroger employee, who knew the mom, pushed the cart out onto the parking lot and hit a speed bump. Because the infant was secured to his car seat but not the shopping cart, the infant fell onto the pavement causing his fatal injuries.
According to 13 WMAZ, infant seats set close to the handle bar of the cart aren’t able to be properly secured. Experts recommend placing infant seats inside the cart and not on top of the sitting area for a toddler.
The infant’s mother, Valli Berg, witnessed her baby boy and the cart falling over. Police are calling the incident a freak accident and have not indicated that they will be pressing charges.
Baby James Anderson Berg was laid to rest earlier today. He is survived by his mother, who is a realtor and his father, who is a VP at Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. Both are graduates from the University of Georgia.
