Police in St. Petersburg, Florida, say a woman claiming to be a vampire bit a man repeatedly outside of a Hooters restaurant.

Josephine Rebecca Smith, 22, was charged in the attack of Milton Ellis, 69, according to the St. Petersburg Times.

Police spokesman Mike Puetz told the paper that Ellis, who is apparently homeless, had fallen asleep in his motorized wheelchair in front of the abandoned restaurant when Smith allegedly told him she was a vampire and attacked him, biting him savagely in the face and neck. Ellis was able to escape and called police from a nearby gas station.

When officers arrive, they say Smith was “half naked and covered in blood,” but had not sustained any injuries. Police say that Smith indicated that she doesn’t remember anything about the attack.

Puetz said, “After [Smith] fell asleep… he claims that she attacked him, started yelling that she was a vampire, that she was going to eat him and started biting him by his face and body.”

Ellis claims he initially invited Smith to “hang out” while she waited for her ride, but had dozed off. Ellis required stitches for his various injuries.

Smith has been charged with aggravated battery on an elderly person, and is being held on $50,000 bail.
