Police in Shaler, Pennsylvania believe a father shot his wife and two young children, one of whom was an infant, before turning the gun on himself.  Police report that the two children, both girls, were shot in the head. The older girl, who is believed to have been around 8 or 9, was shot dead in the hallway, her infant sister and mother were found dead in the master bedroom, both on the bed.

According to Philly.com, a neighbor told the police that she heard arguing that evening from the rented house the family lived in. Apparently, the family had only moved in a few weeks prior to the tragedy. The neighbor went onto say that after the arguments, she heard gun shots and then silence. So far, the police have not uncovered a motive in the case. Police believe the man shot himself immediately after killing his wife and infant. He was also found in the master bedroom. He was reportedly still breathing when first responders arrived but died shortly afterwards. The murdered family was said to be wearing their pajamas, presumably getting ready to go bed, except the father who was still in his street clothes.
