Rick Springfield, long known for his role as Dr. Noah Drake and early 80s hit machine à le “Jesse’s Girl” was arrested yesterday on charges of drinking and driving. Springfield still appears on one of the last surviving daytime soaps, General Hospital, and was suspected to be under the influence when police pulled the Australian native over in his current hometown of Los Angeles on Sunday . Los Angeles police apparently pulled over the singer/actor for an alleged traffic violation and noticed a strong smell of alcohol on his breath. Later, the 61 year old singer/actor failed a sobriety test with reported alcohol level significantly above the legal limit.
Sources told Radar Online that he looked “pretty gone” and that he had been out “having a really good time”. Springfield was later released after having been booked on DUI charges by the LA Sherriff’s Department.
Springfield has two sons, Liam and Joshua. He currently appears on General Hospital in a recurrent guest spot. In 2010 Springfield released a New York times bestseller, “Late, Late At Night”, which was a memoir about his life and how he battled ongoing depression.
