Kate Gosselin is being sued in Pennsylvania court over a $10,000 marriage counseling bill she allegedly did not pay.
In a civil complaint obtained by gossip website RadarOnline, Creative Energy Options in White Haven, PA, is seeking $10,325 for an “unpaid balance due for services 3/4/09 to 3/23/09. [Gosselin] requested Dr. Sylvia Lafair fly to Los Angeles, CA to perform marriage counciling [sic], then refused to pay for services or travel fees.”
Dr. Lafair is one of the founders of Creative Energy Options, with “more than 30 years’ [sic] experience applying her expertise in human behavior and relationships to organizational environments.” Lafair confirmed with the site that she had filed the lawsuit.
Lafair did not go into any more details about the suit or what kind of services she provided that would command $10,ooo, but it obviously didn’t work as the Gosselin marriage soon after flamed out in a very public spectacle on their TLC show, Jon and Kate Plus 8, and the couple were officially divorced in December of 2009.
There was also no reason given as to why Lafair’s services would be needed on the other side of the country when the Gosselins were both living in Pennsylvania at the time.
A friend reportedly close to Kate told website PopEater that Kate was “shocked” by the suit, adding, “How many times did [Kate's ex-husband] Jon make it crystal clear that the ex-couple never had marriage counseling… This doctor didn’t provide marriage counseling, she was Jon’s life coach. If anyone owes her money it’s Jon.”
