John Travolta’s son dies
Jett Travolta, 16-year-old son of actor John Travolta, has died while on vacation with his family in the Bahamas. The cause of his death is still uncertain, but initial reports are that he suffered a seizure and hit his head on the bathtub.
A house caretaker found Jett, 16, unconscious in a bathroom late Friday morning. He was taken by ambulance to a Freeport hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Superintendent Basil Rahming of the Freeport police said in a statement.
The teenager had a history of seizures, according to the statement. An autopsy is planned.
Jett was the oldest child of Mr. Travolta and his wife, the actress Kelly Preston. They also have an 8-year-old daughter, Ella Bleu.
Ms. Preston and Mr. Travolta have said that Jett became very sick and almost died when he was 2. He was later determined to have Kawasaki disease, an illness that leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.
There have been numerous rumors that Jett suffered from autism, something the Travoltas have vehemently denied — which some people speculate is because of their strong belief in Scientology, as the religion looks at autism as a weakness.
