Boy hit by baseball dies
An 11-year-old boy in Compton, California died after being hit in the chest with a baseball.
Coroner’s office spokesman Ed Winter says Whaley Middle School student Alberto Patino had complained of chest pain before he was struck by the baseball Friday afternoon. The boy then had trouble breathing and collapsed.
Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the boy was declared dead at St. Francis Medical Center.
