Chloroform in Casey Anthony’s trunk

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

New lab results show that not only were human remains in Casey Anthony’s trunk, but there were also traces of chloroform.

Casey Anthony’s computer, confiscated within hours of her arrest in July on charges of child neglect, making false official statements and obstruction of justice, also showed visits to Web sites with information about chloroform.

The discovery of chloroform, a chemical compound that can be used to incapacitate crime victims, is a piece of evidence prosecutors will use in building the case of missing 3-year-old Caylee Anthony.

Toddler falls from window

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

A witness at a London apartment building stated they saw a toddler hanging from a window just before he fell to his death.

Shocked neighbours told how the 23-month-old boy, who died after sustaining massive head injuries, was being cared for by his grandfather. The child’s mother was later spotted rushing around hysterically after residents found him in a pool of blood, it was claimed.

Locals said they raised the alarm and wrapped the boy in blankets after he fell in Tottenham, north London, on Friday.

Yasmine Begum, 36, who lives on the ground floor of the apartment block, told how she saw the baby fall after her children spotted him “hanging”.

She said: “The kids were playing on the patio outside and they came running in saying ‘Mum there’s a baby hanging out the window, it’s going to fall’. I went outside, the window was wide open and I saw the baby fall, I actually saw him falling, I did not have the courage to look up at the window to see if there was anyone there I just focused on the baby. Then someone said to bring blankets and I was talking to the ambulance man and he was telling us what to do.”

2-week-old drinks laundry detergent

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Authorities have placed a 2-week-old baby into protective custody after it was determined that the infant had ingested laundry detergent. The mother claims that somehow the baby’s formula was tampered with, but cops are doubting it.

”We’re concerned because the mom’s story and the family’s story are not consistent,” said CPS spokeswoman Gwen Carter. “We felt it was in the best interest of the child.”

The baby was released from the hospital over the weekend and is doing well, Carter said.

The child’s mother has five other children who have been placed with a relative. A Montgomery County judge signed the removal orders for the baby and his siblings on Tuesday, Carter said.

The 32-year-old mother, who asked that her name not be published, said Tuesday that when she mixed the formula, she noticed it was white and thin and not thick and pale yellow like most powder formulas. She said she didn’t think much about it because it was a soy formula.

She said she was cleaning out the bathtub when her 14-year-old son came in the bathroom and told her the baby was spitting out his food and that the formula smelled like bleach.

It’s being reported that the previously most famous pregnant teen Jamie Lynn Spears has given Bristol Palin a gift for her yet to be born infant.

Teenage mothers apparently stick together as Jamie Lynn Spears has sent a baby gift to 17-year old Bristol Palin, the daughter of vice presidential candidate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that 17-year old Bristol Palin was pregnant, and plans to marry her boyfriend, and the father of the baby.

Sarah Palin has 5-kids, and all are reportedly with her at the Republican National Convention, including Bristol’s boyfriend.

Young sibling skeletons found

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Dental records have identified two skeletons found in a storage unit as brother and sister Victor and Tricia Reyes.

They had been dead for two to four years when the discovery of a severed hand last month led detectives to search a Derrell’s Mini Storage unit in Bakersfield.

But authorities don’t know how they died.

A coroner says they appeared to be 10 or 11. Police say that their mother died this year of a drug overdose and that their father lives in Mexico.

Couple accused of keeping grandson in closet

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Authorities have charged an Arizona couple with keeping their 9-year-old grandson confined in a rank closet.

The boy didn’t attend school, can’t read or write and weighed only 48 pounds, Deputy Dawn Hanke said.

The boy and his 8-year-old brother are in protective custody.

50-year-old Becky Lee Tortellet and 52-year-old Larry Alan Tortellet were jailed on $50,000 bond each.

Deputies learned of the alleged abuse when she brought her older grandson to a behavior center and officials there became concerned after he told them he lived in his grandmother’s closet, Hanke said.

Boy attacked by raptor at zoo

Thursday, September 4th, 2008

Alas, it wasn’t a velociraptor, because that would have been AWESOME.

The Greater Vancouver Zoo is re-evaluating its educational raptor show after a four-year-old boy who volunteered to take part was left scratched and bleeding after a hawk landed on his head.

On August 31, during the 4 p.m. raptor show flying demonstration, veteran trainer Gary Worley asked a volunteer - the four-year-old boy - to grab a rope with a lure resembling a stuffed rabbit attached to the opposite end.

The boy was then instructed to run with the rope behind him, a move that prompted a Harris hawk to swoop down on the rabbit as if it was prey, according to Kimberlee Malins, a Coquitlam resident who sat in the audience with her six-year-old daughter.
