Police have identified a body found in Wake County, North Carolina as Nancy Cooper, a mom who went missing out for a jog last Saturday.
Police Chief Pat Bazemore, of Cary, N.C., said Tuesday that medical examiners confirmed the body found the previous evening by a man walking his dog miles from Cooper’s home is that of the mother of two young girls.
“The search for our Nancy is over,” Bazemore said. “Nancy was murdered and our investigation is now a homicide.”
Bazemore said no suspects or persons of interest have been identified in the case. Cooper’s husband, Brad Cooper, has permitted authorities to search the couple’s home and vehicles.

Apparently we’ve all gotten so paranoid that a dad taking pictures of his own kids in a park is suspected of being a pedophile. Really, that’s the first instinct now?
When Gary Crutchley started taking pictures of his children playing on an inflatable slide he thought they would be happy reminders of a family day out.
But the innocent snaps of seven-year-old Cory, and Miles, five, led to him being called a ‘pervert’.
The woman running the slide at Wolverhampton Show asked him what he was doing and other families waiting in the queue demanded that he stop.
One even accused him of photographing youngsters to put the pictures on the internet.

Jon Schillaci, a convicted pedophile that has been on the run from police since 1999, is back in prison.
He traveled the country using various false names, including Jon Willis, Dylan Pierce, Christopher Keegan and Cody Keegan. He ran a pro-pedophile Web site, and he hosted an Internet radio show associated with the site.
And there he remained — with his picture on the FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted List, right up there with Usama bin Laden — until the law finally caught up with him last month.
Tips and hard-nosed detective work led the FBI to Schillaci’s home in San Jose de Garcia. Police commander Salvador Elisea said he didn’t know how long Schillaci had been living in the dairy town of about 10,000.

Details as to what happened to 9-year-old Mya Lyons are still unclear after she was found stabbed in a Chicago alley. An autopsy has shown that it is unlikely she was sexually assaulted.
The 9-year-old had gone to bed about 11 p.m. Monday after telling her grandmother she was tired and wanted to sleep. About 10 minutes later, the family heard a door shut. The noise drew the girl’s father downstairs to investigate, relatives said.
After quickly discovering Mya wasn’t in the house, relatives went outside to search for her. About 15 minutes later, Richard Lyons Sr. found his daughter wounded in a secluded alley near their home. His anguished screams awoke the quiet South Side street where the family has lived for more than two decades.
“No! No! No!” neighbors heard Richard Lyons bellow. “Not my baby! Not my baby!”

A 911 tape has been released in the case of a 9-year-old girl who watched her mother stabbed to death with a sword.
Jesus Humberto Canales, 28, allegedly stabbed his live-in girlfriend, Lucy Preciado, 26, in front of the couple’s four young children Saturday at their Lancaster home, said Los Angeles County sheriff’s officials. Canales fled the scene and was still at large Monday.
The girl called 911 early Saturday, telling authorities, “My dad just stabbed my mom … with a sword. He’s leaving right now. Please hurry. I don’t want my mommy to die. I’m scared. I want to go to my grandma’s.”
Sheriff’s Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said the call was “so horrendous it made a couple of the homicide detectives cry.” He said detectives described the killing as the worst they had ever seen.
