A 7-year-old playing in a Sacramento park became a victim of a random shooting and now has a bullet lodged in her skull.
Yamilet Leon was with her uncle and brother near Robertson Park on Monday, when gunshots were fired, police said.
Seconds after hearing the gunfire, Leon said that her ear hurt, and that the pain felt like a needle.
The girl’s mother, Maria Calderon, noticed the bullet when she came home.
It’s unknown how the bullet came in contact with Leon, but police said with Fourth of July just around the corner, people may be randomly firing bullets into the air.
“Randomly firing bullets into the air”?! Stick with the smoke bombs and maybe a sparkler or two, people!

We don’t really think we would classify someone with intact female organs a “man”, but whatever.

Well, in his defense, it’s illegal to have kids ride in the back of a pickup truck unsecured…
A Midlothian man was arrested Monday at a Posen gas station for keeping his two children in a cage in his pickup truck in order to control them, police said Thursday morning.
Ricardo Gonzalez, 35, was charged with misdemeanor child endangerment, according to Posen police, and admitted to keeping his two daughters, ages 6 and 3, in the cage, police said. A Cook County state’s attorney’s office spokesman said it has not yet been determined whether the offense will be upgraded to a felony.
Gonzalez’s Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck was spotted about 4:30 p.m. Monday at a gas station in the 3000 block of West 147th Street when someone standing at a fuel pump heard what she thought was a crying child.
“She looks inside this pickup truck and noticed a male subject pushing a juvenile’s hands back into the cage,” said Posen Deputy Police Chief Vickie Paggi. “She didn’t think this was right and notified police right away.”

Police have discovered the body of Brooke Bennett about a mile from her uncle’s property just a day after he was named a person of interest. Documents also came out yesterday implicating him in planning on using Bennett as part of a child sex ring.
The girl’s uncle, Michael Jacques, who has been in custody since Sunday on sexual assault charges involving another underage girl, is to be charged in federal court with kidnapping, police Sgt. Tara Thomas said.
Bennett last was seen alive with Jacques at a convenience store last Wednesday.
“The painful discovery of Brooke’s body today is tragic and heartbreaking,” Baker said.
He called the death “clearly suspicious” but declined to give details before a planned briefing Thursday morning.
