Teen dies in hunting accident

Further proof that guns and people do not go together like peanut butter and jelly. A kid with a future ahead of him, how unfortunate that his life is lost in an accident that was so preventable.

LAVACA COUNTY, Texas — A 14-year-old boy was accidentally shot and killed in a hunting accident by his grandfather, investigators said.

According to the Lavaca County Sheriff’s Office, Taylor Michalec’s grandfather said he was walking behind the teen when the trigger on his AK-47 assault rifle snagged a branch and discharged, striking the teen in the back.

whats the point of making this public, accidents happen; and yes if you knew the kid you would understand how bad it is. don’t exploit and publicize this case more then it already is.

You single out these unfortunate incidents as evidence that guns are bad and people shouldn’t have them. But what about the millions of hunters and sport shooters who have not suffered a terrible accident, or who simply own and use firearms legally and responsibly. Using a family’s tragedy for your ideological purpose is bad enough, but you are also trying to exploit their loss to promote an attitude with which they, being hunters, would disagree.

My father started taking me hunting when I was just seven years old. He used the activity to teach responsibility, respect and maturity. Fathers and sons like him and me, and me and my son, are a large and important part of the truth about firearm sports, whether it serves your political agenda or not.

This post was pathetic. This entire family is in total shock and can not believe they have lost someone so precious. Have some respect for this family and do not judge. Were you there to see what happened…remember that the media will go over board in many ways. When my father was killed in a car accident the media told the world he ran a stop sign foolishly, and low and behold the police report claimed that he in fact did not run the stop sign, and just like this situation was a horrible accident. Have some respect. Please!

Dont use the tragedy of our family to push your political agenda. You are a douche for even saying this. You were not at the scene and do not know what actually happened.

You’re completely ridiculous, using someone’s tragic accident to back up your opinions? How low could you stoop to even think about publicizing this accident even more? It was a complete ACCIDENT, and that’s all it will ever be. Grow up and learn some respect. Taylor was a great guy, and he doesn’t need his business spread all over the internet by idiots like you.

Just another liberal who wants us to rollover and allow our freedoms to be taken at the hands of foreign and domestic terrorists! What a piece of S _ _ T!

I think the family & friends of Taylor know what has happened. This was a personal tragedy for all of us. You don’t know what has happened, so please do not comment on my uncle’s mistakes, they are none of your concerns. Taylor wouldn’t want this, so please let it rest. I loved Taylor very much and so did his grandfather. That man loved that boy so much and i know it was never intentional. Taylor loved his grandfather as well, and considered the man a hero. IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. If you are not family, you are not welcome to comment on the tragedy, please take your comments elsewhere. Thank You.

How dare you!!!! When did the Lord appoint you to be the Judge? Why would anyone with a conscience slander Taylor and his parents in the worst time of their life. What gives you the right to post this if you don’t even have the slightest idea who these people are or what events actually transpired. Taylor’s Parents and Grandfather along with the rest of the family loved him very much. He was an unbelievable person with FANTASTIC Parents. I hope that the IDIOT who posted this garbage never has to suffer the loss of a loved one in an accident. It’s IMPORTANT to remember an accident is an accident regardless of its nature.
