7 year old girl finds gun and accidently shoots mother

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

MT is filing this under the Dumbass awards since the mother left a pistol on her nightstand while sleeping.

The fact that her 7 year old daughter picked up (out of curiosity) and the gun went off, twice, is absolutely not her fault, but the fault of the mother. Why not just leave a granade in a child’s crib?

The mother is expected to make a full recovery.

Authorities say 38-year-old Sharda Brijmohan was asleep in her bedroom Friday when her daughter walked over to a nightstand and picked up a handgun. Authorities say it accidentally fired. She was shot once in the forearm and once in the neck.

Baby put up for bid on Ebay

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

“I’ll buy that for a dollar!”

Although the parents are claiming it was just a joke, authorities aren’t laughing…

BERLIN — Authorities in southern Germany have taken custody of a 7-month-old boy after his parents posted an ad on eBay offering to sell him for one euro, or about $1.60.

Police spokesman Peter Hieber says the baby was placed in the care of youth services in the southwestern Allgaeu region.

Boy received serious injuries from tombstoning

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

MT’s first question? What the heck is tombstoning??

Apparently, it’s when you jump into a body of water from a signifant height. So, jumping off a cliff or a bridge. (Why would anybody in their right mind to this?)

Apparently, it’s a fad. A fad of teens and young people who have very poor judgement.

MT thinks a fine punishment, aside from the injuries he’s received, is to pay for his rescue efforts through montetary obligations.

A 14-year-old boy is in hospital with suspected spinal injuries after he landed on rocks whilst tombstoning.

The teenager, who has not been named, was tombstoning - jumping into water from height - in the Fishers Nose area of the Barbican in Plymouth, Devon. But he suffered suspected spinal injuries, a broken wrist and lacerations when he slipped and fell onto rocks.

He was rescued by inshore lifeboat and taken to hospital in the city.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution and the Coastguards have repeatedly warned thrill seekers about the dangers of tombstoning.

Baby found in freezer

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

A baby, reportedly under the age of 1 and deeply frozen from being in the freezer for at least a year, was found in a hotel freezer in Houston, Texas.

Why did they wait so long to report it and why report it all if they seemingly were getting away with it. Perhaps an argument that prompted revenge?

MT hopes that a murder investigation will ensue.

A baby boy found dead in a southwest Houston motel freezer may have been there since May 2007, Houston police said at a Friday press conference.

Police say baby Devin was found Friday morning wearing a diaper wrapped in blankets inside a gym bag and frozen solid, police said. Detectives say Devin’s mother, Crystal Sosa, 25, and her common-law husband, Dezmond Blake, 29, had been using the refrigerator’s freezer while his body still inside.

Man struck by car killed while holding baby

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

The car was said to be going 90 mph and didn’t even bother to stop…

NEW YORK - A woman and a man holding her baby while walking on the side of a New York highway have been run over by a driver who didn’t bother to stop.

The baby flew out of the man’s hands but wasn’t struck by the car and suffered only minor injuries. The man was killed.

Bus crash in Wisconsin leaves two children with major injuries

Saturday, May 24th, 2008

MT hates hearing about bus crashes, especially those that involve children as young as preschool. You want to believe that children are safe riding the gigantic yellow limo, but truth is, tragedy can strike at anytime.

MT hopes that the truck driver who rear ended this bus will have his license taken away and pay a serious fine at minimum as it was undoubtedly his fault.

Two elementary-age students were severely hurt and were flown to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, said Lt. Paul Falduto, a sheriff’s spokesman.

“One was a child who was getting off the bus at the time it was struck,” he said.

The truck driver, a man in his 50s, was not injured seriously. He was taken to a local hospital and was being questioned by sheriff’s deputies Friday evening. Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth said the truck driver may have been drinking from a soda can at the time of the crash, according to the Associated Press.
The 18 injured included 16 children and both drivers, police said.

“The [less-serious injuries] are anything from broken bones to scrapes and bruises,” Falduto said.
