Students on trip duct taped in room

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Parents of a group of Ohio high school kids were a bit peeved when they found out that the chaperones had used duct tape to seal the kids in their hotel rooms. It was an action apparently given the thumbs up by the school board.

At a heated meeting Monday, Michelle Mata told the Lake Local school board in Millbury, Ohio, that the tactic panicked her son during a recent weekend trip.

Sylvia Keeler says she may file charges. Her son, Mark Hummel, says he worried he could be trapped in his room during a fire.

School board president Timothy Krugh told parents the tape was meant to keep students safe.

Schools Superintendent Jim Witt says the idea was to show if students violated curfew. He says the tape wouldn’t have kept them from getting out in an emergency.

Autistic boy banned from church

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

The parents of a 13-year-old boy with autism in Bertha, Minnesota have been issued a restraining order by the local church because of their son’s behavior. WWJD?

Walz claims Adam [Race] has urinated and spat in church and that his behaviour presents a danger to other parishioners.

But Adam’s parents say the boy has a medical disability and they try to control their son as best they can.

“He said that we did not discipline our son. He said that our son was physically out of control and a danger to everyone at church,” Carol Race said. “I can’t discipline him out of his autism, and I think that’s what our priest is expecting.”

But Walz told authorities he has spoken to the parents and the parish has tried to offer “many options for accommodations that would assist the family while protecting the safety of parishioners. (But) the family refused those offers of accommodation.”

Pit Bulls kill 7 year old boy

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Why is it, you never hear of a gang of pugs killing children? Well, they don’t have the capability to. Pit Bulls are a disgrace to our society and harmful to children. Children need to come first. They’re far more important than dogs who are bred to look for a thrill kill.

ABILENE — A 7-year-old boy died after he was apparently attacked by pit bulls while playing outside near his rural home, authorities said.

A driver saw Tanner Joshua Monk of Breckenridge lying next to a road near Hubbard Lake on Sunday with two pit bulls nearby and stopped to check on the child, Stephens County Sheriff Jim Reeves said. When she left her car, the dogs became aggressive and she called 911, he said.

The dogs also became aggressive toward the two deputies who arrived, and they shot and killed them. The deputies found that Tanner was dead, Reeves said in today’s edition of the Abilene Reporter-News.

Toddler seriously injured when run over by lawn mower

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

The toddler was mangled. While some reports claim that both of the 3 year olds legs had to be amputated, the following story says it was only one leg. The Canadian boy was ran over by his neighbors riding lawn mower, suffered very serious injuries and complications. Such a sad and scary story…WARNING GRAPHIC TEXT:

Ashley said they heard from neighbours who were outside in the area that Ryan was running near the lawn mower but witnesses thought the man could see the young boy near him.

Moments later, the unthinkable happened.

“He ran right over him. It wasn’t like his foot got caught, he was run right over,” she said.

EMS and Coronach and Assiniboia RCMP responded to the incident and Ryan was transported to hospital in Regina to treat his extensive injuries.

One of his legs had to be amputated below the knee. On the other foot, all of his toes were amputated except his big toe. His pelvis was shattered and Ashley said the lawn mower blade took out a piece of the boy’s liver, his bum and a piece of his chest over his heart.
