Mom sues after toddler steps in dog poop

Friday, May 9th, 2008

And who says we have an overly litigious society? Pshaw.

A Mahopac mom filed a $100 claim against Norwalk, saying her family outing was ruined when her toddler stepped in dog poop.

Kelly DeBrocky said she had to throw out her toddler’s soiled shoes after the 1-year-old boy stepped in dog feces outside the city-owned Maritime Garage, ruining her family’s visit to the nearby Maritime Aquarium.

M. Jeffry Spahr, the attorney for the city of Norwalk, said the official response is that her claim is denied and in his words, “poop happens.”

Teens turn skull into bong

Friday, May 9th, 2008

“Dude.”

“What?”

“You know what would be FREAKIN’ AWESOME? If we dug up a grave and turned the skull into a bong!”

“WHOOOOOOO!”

Three teenagers were arrested after two of them told police they dug up a secluded grave north of Houston, removed the skull from the coffin and converted it into a marijuana bong.

Police found a grave in the city of Humble that had been disturbed, but were still investigating the rest of the teens’ story, Houston police Sgt. John Chomiak said.

Kevin Wade Jones, 17, and Matthew Richard Gonzalez, 17, both of Kingwood, were arrested Wednesday night and were being held on misdemeanor charges of abuse of a corpse, Chomiak said. The juvenile was referred to the Harris County juvenile justice system.

Texas woman convicted for swinger’s club involving kids

Friday, May 9th, 2008

We can’t decide who’s more sick, the people running this place or the people going there.

Shauntel Mayo, 29, faces life in prison after being found guilty on charges that she forced three siblings, ages 7 through 10, to have sex with each other or perform sexual acts for club members who paid to watch.

In March, Mayo’s 36-year-old boyfriend, Jamie Pittman, was also found guilty in four minutes. He was sentenced to life in prison after jurors deliberated for just two minutes.

Some jurors cried during testimony in Mayo’s three-day trial, the Tyler Morning-Telegraph reported.

Child abusing mom sentenced to 15 years

Friday, May 9th, 2008

A woman in Frederick, Maryland has been sentenced to 15 years after she was found guilty of poisoning her own daughter.

Thirty-three-year-old Wendi Scott pleaded guilty in March to first-degree child abuse for sickening her daughter to draw attention to herself, poisoning her with magnesium and using syringes to remove blood.

Prosecutors had alleged that Scott’s behavior was consistent with Munchausen syndrome by proxy, in which a caregiver fakes or induces illness in another to generate sympathy.

Michelle Duggar pregnant with 18th child

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Jesus, there are small towns smaller than the Duggar family. Wonder what Al Gore would have to say about their carbon footprint.

Michelle Duggar, 41, is due on New Year’s Day, and the latest addition will join seven sisters and 10 brothers. There are two sets of twins.

“We’ve had three in January, three in December. Those two months are a busy time for us,” she said, laughing.

The Duggars’ oldest child, Josh, is 20, and the youngest, Jennifer, is nine months old.

The fast-growing family lives in Tontitown in northwest Arkansas in a 7,000-square-foot home. All the children — whose names start with the letter J — are home-schooled.

Boy dies in crash resulting from drag race

Friday, May 9th, 2008

Some asshats decided to go all Fast and the Furious on a residential street, and now a young boy is dead because of it.

What neighbors said was a drag race along a residential street in Queens turned deadly early yesterday when one of the speeding cars hit a sport utility vehicle, throwing a 5-year-old boy from the backseat and killing him one block from his home, police said.

Police last night were looking for two men who fled on foot after crashing a blue BMW at 164th Place and 109th Avenue in Jamaica. Police said the BMW 540 was bought under the name of Hendry James. Police said James is not a suspect and has reported his identity stolen.

The BMW was speeding east on 109th Avenue when the car struck the SUV carrying the boy, Jordan McLean, his mother, Marcia McEachron, 44, and his aunt, Claris Edwards, 50, of Far Rockaway, shortly after midnight, police said. Jordan was in the back passenger seat, and was not strapped into a car seat or wearing a seat belt, police said.

Teen girl sexually assaulted on school bus

Friday, May 9th, 2008

What probably shocks us the most is how brazen this act was.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s office said Branden Allen, 18, of St. Petersburg, Florida, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old boy were arrested late Thursday on charges of sexual battery and false imprisonment.

Authorities say that on Tuesday at about 6:15 p.m., the three suspects and a female student at Dixie Hollins High School in St. Petersburg were aboard a bus that leaves the school late each day to transport students who play sports and take part in other after-school activities.

Allen boarded the bus, followed by the victim, who was taking a seat for a ride home, according to the sheriff’s office. Authorities say the two younger male teens then boarded the bus and acted as lookouts as Allen “sexually battered the victim despite her resistance and protestations.”

California girl run over by mother, dies

Friday, May 9th, 2008

A 6-year-old in Pittsburg, California was run over by her mother’s car in what police are describing as a “tragic accident”.

Pittsburg police say six-year-old Rachel Lopez died in a hospital Wednesday after her mother ran over her a few doors down from their home.

The mother was driving home Wednesday afternoon when she stopped her car to talk to two or three of her daughters.

Police say when the mother drove off, she didn’t notice her six-year-old had had ridden in front of the vehicle in a big wheel-type tricycle.
