A high school teacher accused of getting a student pregnant and paying for her abortion says she is a manipulative liar chasing compensation money.

Stephen Morrow, 55, of the Gold Coast, has admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl, but said their relationship did not begin until the summer holidays after she finished high school when they shared their first kiss.

Morrow accused the alleged victim of already trying to claim money from the education department over the incident.

“She’s lying. She’s after compensation money and a large amount of it,” he told the County Court in Melbourne.

“I didn’t know the vast sums of money she sued the education department for. I found that out quite a while later, actually.”

Morrow is on trial after pleading not guilty to 11 counts of sexual penetration of a 16 or 17 year old child under his care, supervision or authority.

He was a physics teacher at an inner Melbourne school in the late 1990s when he allegedly had unprotected sex with the year 12 student, got her pregnant and then paid for an abortion, the court has heard.

Morrow said he fell for the student after she began writing him letters.

“They did affect me. It’s the sort of situation where you forget the age difference and I know I shouldn’t have,” he said.

But he said even though he felt romantically involved, sex was the last thing on his mind.

“I was never interested in chasing her for sex,” he said.

“It wasn’t my plan at the time.

“I regret it happened because I was embarrassed about it.”

Morrow said he thought the alleged victim was a very mature girl.

“She had a pregnancy and abortion - she was experienced in life,” he said.

Soon after she left school this girl, who is from Belgium, became pregnant to an a much older Arab, and aborted the child. The two of them eventually married and had a child, but are both unemployed. Her mother had three different kids to three different men, and one said she fleeced them all using her criminal boyfriend for muscle.

Not a nice family.

Hi John,
Did the girl happen to come by the name of Vanessa “Podopulous”? Mr Morrow taught me physics at the school the victim went to.
I had a lot of respect for Mr Morrow and am deeply saddened by the outcome of the court trials.
I feel very sorry for Mr Morrow’s family especially his young daughter.

Hi Tammy.

Her name was Vanessa Elaine DeDoncker, but now it is Vanessa Nematollahi. Her mother (from Belgium) had three children to three different men, and got money from each. The last of these was threatened to pay up or she would sic her boyfriend, a man with a long criminal record, onto him. The man got a protection order out against her, and her boyfriend. Some people believe Vanessa became pregnant to her mother’s boyfriend, the thug, who threatened her with death if she told anybody. According to Vanessa’s emails he also threatened her mother with death several times, and raped her at least once. Eventually Vanessa met another much older man, an Arab, and fell pregnant to him, and had an abortion. She eventually married him and had a baby. The Arab is unemployed and on the dole, but continues to make cash as a freelance builder (illegally). The two of them intend suing Mr. Morrow if the woman wins the case. If they win Morrow will lose his house. There are many more details I could provide, but this should give you a small glimpse of what is really happening. None of these details were allowed to be revealed in court, because in Victoria the law says that in these cases the “victim” is not allowed to be besmirched in any way whatsoever. It’s a kangaroo court, literally.

I have just come across this website and found it shocking that you, john hay, could leave such responses. Obviously, as you are a neighbour, you are given one picture of stephen. however, the real picture is another. I found it completely unethical that you mentioned the victim’s name. She has confided in me about this as I am a very close friend of hers. I have known her for a very long time and am familiar with the school and that teacher. If you happened not to have noticed, he did the exact same thing to another STUDENT of the school and has done it to several others form previous schools he taught at. I am sure he failed to advis you of that. Of course I cannot know that he made any other girls pregnant. You also failed to see his first wife was a student as well. This second child he and his current 21-year old defacto partner have was obviously conceived deliberatey in order for him to keep ties with his girlfriend as soon as he is reeased after 4 to 6 years.
And you, mr kerr. I would be quite curious to see what information you have available.
Mr Hay, I think you have made radical conclusions out of a situaions you are in no position to judge over. Especially not what the victim has gone through after the events with that teacher. You are merely out to make her to be the criminal whereas she just did what she had to do a very long time ago..

Luiz, just go to google.com.au and type in the word “stephen peter morrow” and all thee age and herald sun articles will come up. they won’t mention much about my friend at all as the law states her identity must remain anonymous. How do you know her family. Perhaps we know each other?

thank you very much. it is good to see that justice favoured her. i knew her and her family in the years i lived in australia (2000-2003). now im living in europe. i wanted to write to her about this but i didnt know if i would be imposing to much. however, it nice to see that the case is closed and she can finally have some closure in this matter.

A TEACHER at a girls’ school accused of getting a pupil pregnant and paying for her abortion has had his conviction overturned.
Stephen Peter Morrow will face a retrial on nine charges after the Victorian Court of Appeal found his trial last year miscarried.

He had been jailed for six years with a minimum of four after a County Court jury found him guilty of nine sex offences.

The physics teacher admitted sleeping with the girl after she finished her VCE studies but denied they had an affair when she was still his student.

Justices Geoffrey Nettle, Robert Redlich and Lex Lasry found there had been a combination of errors, including in directions given to the jury, and ordered a new trial.

Mr Morrow, 55, of Queensland, claimed he had been set up by the girl, who secretly taped a conversation with him after telling police of the alleged affair.

The girl told the jury they had sex in Mr Morrow’s car while she was a student and he offered her $100 a week after paying for her abortion.
