Mom charged for giving kids rat poison

We don’t know why it took so long to charge this woman for an incident that occurred last November, which involved a mom giving her kids a toxic mix of juice, rat poison, and boric acid:

Johanna Vera, 23, also allegedly drank the concoction and gave it to her 3-year-old and her 10-month-old, according to Chicago Police reports.

No one died as a result drinking the juice but all three were hospitalized after the Nov. 29, 2007 incident, police said. Vera, who lives in the 5000 block of West Henderson, was charged late Monday.

In a statement, Vera allegedly said she was upset about a “domestic situation’’ and wanted to “die and take her children with her,’’ police said.

You know sometimes in life all is not what it appears to be. I know Johanna Vera personally. I believe mental health issues played a big factor in Johanna committing this heinous act against her children. I do believe that given another chance to right this wrong she would do things differently!

Johanna Vera needs to be locked up in the solitary confinement for a very long time.
