Dennis Quaid sues pharma for drug mix up

I’m surprised he’s only suing for 50k, it seems that he has a real case here, although the hospital made a grievous error and he’s not suing them for some reason.

What a horrible ordeal, after twins were born in early Noveber and shortly after obtained a staff infection. They were then given lethal amounts of a blood thinner called heparin. This same mistake has taken several newborn lives across the country. Dennis and his wife Kimberly have hardly been able to hold their babies, I don’t blame them for suing. This is a monumental screw up.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) — Dennis Quaid and his wife sued the makers of heparin Tuesday after their newborn twins were inadvertently given massive doses of the blood thinner at a hospital.

The product liability lawsuit, filed in Chicago, seeks more than $50,000 in damages.

It claims that Baxter Healthcare Corp., based in Deerfield, Illinois, was negligent in packaging different doses of the product in similar vials with blue backgrounds.

The lawsuit also says the company should have recalled the large-dosage vials after overdoses killed three children at an Indianapolis hospital last year.

Oh yes, the company was extremely negligent in assuming that health care professionals would have the ability to read.

my sister was a nurse, she said that the “Registered Nurse” is supposed to check all medicine three (3) times before administrating. Where was the check of this drug. I feel the hospital staff is more at fault they dropped the ball.
