NEXT: Our list of recommended jeans for stylish mamas
Mom jeans are those worn by one of two different types of mom personalities, neither of which is excusable. The first is the one who has simply given up, resorted to what's easiest or simply throws on what's in the closet (even though that may translate to jeans that predate her wedding rings, let alone predating her children). The 1st fashion victim is most likely to be sleep deprived, probably tight on cash (an assumption given how much children cost) and low on priority when it comes to herself. She has put herself last in the family and figures trying to keep up with the trends or putting on make-up in a lesson on futility. She figures that her days in the spotlight are over and that no one will take notice anyway, that she's unavailable and only women looking to "hook up" or find a spouse care about fashion, but she's missing the point. Looking good is about YOU! You do not have to put the needs of your family aside to do something for yourself. In fact, taking care of
yourself includes taking care of your health and keeping with your identity. You don't have selfless just because you have children. You are still the same person you were before you had kids, you just have some shorties in your entourage.
The second fashion victim of mom jeans is one where she is clueless. She might have been a fashion maven before she started a family or perhaps she was just as clueless then as she is now, no matter how she got to that level of uncool, she is doing herself and the rest of the world a great disservice. There is no time like the present to begin a new identity. Consider yourself hipper, cooler and fashion forward now that you have kids. If you haven't taken time for yourself in the past, spend an extra 10 minutes each morning doing something for yourself now! Kids do not have to mean you give up on yourself!
Today is the day that you crawl out from your embarrassing fashion abyss and walk away with the knowledge of what today's hip jeans are, even if you can't justify the price tag on some of these trendy denims, your knowledge can help you land a sweet deal look-a-like at your local Target.
Be in the know. Follow our list of some of the most fashionable jeans that won't compromise your fashion integrity.
