I've got clothing issues with all of my kids, I guess. My 5 yo son ONLY likes to wear jeans and T-shirts. To get him to wear shorts this hot summer, I had to take all of his pants away. And last year, he HATED sweatshirts. The only way we'd make it to school on time is if I agreed that he could wear a T-shirt underneath and take off the sweatshirt once he got to school. I want to buy him school clothes, but it's so hard. I'm not going to drop a fortune on freakin' T's, and I'm afraid if I buy him polos and collared shirts, he might not wear them. Luckily for me, he likes to get his hair cut "like a man", so it's short and neat. Everything he does is geared towards him preparing to become a man someday. dontknow

My 3yo daughter LOVES clothes! My situation is like Pixie's with Katie: I have to set a dollar-limit because she'd make me buy everything if I could afford it all. And she changes her clothes like 3 times a day. Each night, I have to dig through the pile of clothes on the floor to find out what was worn for 2 hrs and can be hung up again, and what was worn in the backyard and needs to be washed.

My 2yo daughter is really hard to buy clothes for. Currently her wardrobe consists of hand-me-downs from her sister and my neighbor. But her body shape is hard to buy for. She's pretty petite, but her waist is so skinny that none of her pants stay up. By the time a pair of pants will fit her waist, the length is now ridiculously short. I always dreamed of the day that my girls will be the same size and can share clothes, but it looks like that day is going to be way far down the road at this rate.

Boy do I feel you here! Ds is 38lbs and 47" tall, and still wears 18m or 24m shorts. I've been trying to find him school pants (he has to wear a uniform) and it's really hard to find something that is long enough but will fit his waist. There are some that have the adjustable waist, but I have to pull so much in there's a big wad of fabric at this waist and it looks crazy. Most of his pants come from The Children's Place because their clothes (in our experience) are slim cut and when I pull in the adjustable waist there's not too much fabric (still more than I'd like but what are you going to do?). They do have uniform pants at TCP, but they are 100% cotton and his school won't allow that, they have to be a poly-cotton blend. <sigh> I wish I had such an awful problem. Smile It would just be terrible to be so slim.

I wonder why they care what it's made of. As long as it's the right style, color, and you're paying for it, then what's the BFD?

My only requirement is that the clothing be weather and occasion appropriate. Actually, I have let my oldest out in cords and a fleece pullover in 95 degree weather before just to prove a point. Unfortunately, that backfired on me as everyone in the store was looking at me as if to wonder what was wrong with me!

I'm pretty sure my kids will be easy to please though. As long as they have a large supply of t-shirts with their favorite characters on them, they seem to be happy. Hunter currently wears the same selection of Avatar and Teen Titan tees. Ethan wears Elmo and Spiderman. Connor still wears cutesie clothes. Oh, Hunter also LOVES his crocs. He likes for the strap on one shoe to be in front of his foot and the strap on the other shoe to be behind his heel....don't know WHY that bothers me as much as it does! Rolling Eyes

Wow, good luck finding something for him! Seamus has about five pounds on your ds and it took us three days of looking to find uniform pants and shorts that fit him. We ended up with French Toast size 4's with the adjustable waist drawn as tight as it will go. He really needs to be in a belt, too, but I can't find one that he can undo and redo himself. He just had his annual well child and he's in the 75th percentile for both height and weight, so it's insane to me that the smallest uniform pants we can find are almost too big.

I have lots of trouble finding Jack pants that fit too. He's 42# and should be in a size 5 for length but they are all HUGE. WTF? Is this something to do with the kids in America all growing fatter?

I've been told there is a uniform shop inside St. Clair Square (the mall in Fairview Heights) that carries magnetic belts, which are easy for little boys to open/close. I'm going to see if I can find them and if they are indeed there, I'll let you know and maybe you can run over and pick one up. I think it's silly that k's have to wear a belt.

We tired the French Toast brand of pants (Target, right?) but they were a no go. The 4's were too short and the 5's were so big, even with the waist drawn up they practically slid off of him, plus they had this weird bulk of fabric at the waist. JCP is supposed to carry 5 slims with an adjustable waist, and I'm hoping they will work. I swear the kid eats like a freaking horse, I don't know how he stays so damn thin. BTW, he is consistently in the 5-15 percentile for weight, but the 90-95 percentile for height.

I feel like a complete and total dumbass right now. I realized as I was reading this thread that I never had S try on the pants that we bought-- he tried on the shorts in the store and I didn't even think to check the pants for length after we found shorts that fit him in the waist. I just had him try them on, and they're about a half inch too short. Fuck. I remember finding some five slims at some point (we've been shopping three times this week Evil or Very Mad ) but I can't remember whether they weren't wrinkle resistant, or if they were the ones that S didn't like because the waist was too high.

I don't know. Like I said, we've done a lot of shopping this week, and a lot of places had a racks of husky/plus sizes right next to the regular sizes for everything. So you wouldn't think that regular sizes need to be bigger if the larger cuts are that widely available. Seamus is not small for his age at all-- he was the tallest boy in his preschool class last year, and also the youngest by a couple of months. And according to the growth charts he's exactly height/weight proportionate, so it seems strange that he's going to need slim cut pants.
