So I had to get this out before i burst.
My oldest son (7) started playing tee ball this year. He is not the most athletic but he wanted to try it so i coughed up the 35 bucks for him to join. I was excited when I heard the coach was a friends brother because i *thought* he was a nice guy. Well here is how it is. There are 14 kids on the team. They can only have 10 kids batting each inning. There are 4 innings in tee ball. The kids that are left sit on the bench until the two final innings. Well you guessed my kid is sitting on the bench until the 2nd two innings every time. He plays the "good kids" in all four innings and never rotates who starts what games and who plays in all the innings. You bet that the coaches kid gets to play every time what ever position she wants (for some reason all the kids want to play catcher) So now my son hasn't really got a fair chance to see if he really likes it because the majority of the time he is on the bench. I realize that someone has to sit on the bench part of the time but why can't the coaches kid sit out????? I will be so glad when i am done with this shit.

Great! Is this what I have to look forward too? My older guy is starting basketball in a few weeks.

I would talk to the coach though. I would talk to the coach and if that doesn't work, I would report him to the park district or whoever this league is run through.

I've heard that about baseball and tee-ball, that's why we directed Holden to a sport that he (hopefully) will not be benched most of the time. It just seems like tee-ball is paced more slowly.

I think it's awful what that coach is doing though and I would definitely tell him to kiss your ass. Laughing Laughing

he has a game tonight if it doesn't rain so we will see what happens. then i will talk to the guy if he doesn't let him play more. Last year i coached soccer. Everybody was happy, i didn't play my kids the whole time even tho they were pretty good i rotated all the kids in every chance i got and nobody really bitched too much..
So hopefully --- he will see things my way or i will have to boot him in the ass!!

btw we are going to bball day camp next week the boys are so excited about that!!

Sorry to hear about your son's situation. That definitely sucks. Is there any way you can check the league's rules, and then bring anything he's wrong to his attention? We were given a copy of the T-Ball League Rules when we joined my son this Spring. It says:
*All players must rotate position every inning, and cannot play the same position twice in a game.
*No player can be "benched" 2 innings in a row.
*Game lasts for 4 innings.
*Outs are not counted. If a player is out at first, he can remain on base.
*The end of an inning arives when all players have batted. The last batter get to hit and run all the bases.
*Score is not kept in T-Ball.
*The end of a game arrives at the end of 4 innings, or 90 minutes, whichever is first.

I really love our coach. He is so fair to the kids. He sits his son out, too. He's friendly to them, and they love him. I really hope your coach backs off a bit, because if he does this in T-Ball where there might be rules like these, think of how shitty it will be in the older leagues where the coaches really do get to make their own decisions!
P.S. The catcher thing, I think it's all that gear the kids love. Every kid on our team loooooves to be catcher, too.

last two games have been cancelled due to rain. Very Happy

mama your rules sound really nice i wish we played in your area. i think they are really lax here because no one will coach, we are super rural and it is a really small league the only rules we have that i know of for sure are the same as the last two of the rules you list.. maybe it is just those are the only rules they choose to follow. well apparently the bitching did some good my kid has got to play the whole game the past two games. still haven't seen the coaches kid sit out yet, but my son is starting to like the game a little bit more now that he knows it is not all about sitting on the bench Very Happy funniest thing was that i saw the coach telling someone else, i'm all about being fair, yeah right Rolling Eyes
