| Does anyone else hang their clothes outside to dry? |
Back when we lived in the crunchy little college town, we had one of those laundry tree things in the backyard that I used all of the time. We didn't hang things outside at our condo out of sheer logistics--although we, like everyone else, had a line on our deck for drying swim gear. Our laundry hookups were in our basement storage locker two floors away. I would imagine that the HOA would have gotten twitchy about undies out on the line anyway.
Anyway, I want to put a line up here this spring. We have a nice big back yard and my washing machine is right next to my back door so it won't be a hassle at all. I'm excited about it-- I love the smell of line-dried clothes.
Edited to add-- we use All Free and Clear, too. And a combo of the Shout gel, Z-out (or is it Zout? I'm not sure. The blue and purple bottle) and Oxyclean. Oxyclean is my savior because dh is terrible about checking for stains before putting things in the dryer, but I'd rather soak a few things here and there than do all the laundry myself, so it's cool. |

OK, to quote myself:

| Dh DOES NOT HELP WITH THE LAUNDRY. He's great at other areas of the house (dishes, vacuuming, dusting, breakfast) But I do the laundry alone. In fact I'm sure Prescott must have "copy and pasted" his laundry blog directly out of my husband's mental thoughts! |
I need to publicly retract this statement. Last week, our whole family caught a stomache bug. The kids got it and got rid of it by Friday night. Saturday morning my in-laws were coming to visit, so he and I started cleaning the house. Little by little, I started to get weaker until I finally realized that by cleaning up my kids' sick messes all week, now I was sick.
DH kicked ass and cleaned the whole house (vacuumed, counters, dishes, dusted, widows, everything!). I, in my dizzy/nauseus/loser state managed to make the kids' beds, clean out the cat box, and make the pillows look straight on the couch. By the time his parents got here, I only got to see them for an hour and exchange Christmas presents before I had to cut out to be sick in my room for the rest of the day. Meanwhile, since my kids were sick all over themselves the past few days, instead of having 3 loads of laundry waiting for me, now there were 7 loads. Well, Dh came in every hour to dump another clean load of laundry on the bed. He even managed to do (shock) a bleach wash, all while I was resting under the covers all day, with the heat cranked up to fight off the chills.
Then at dinner time, I had a recipe for scallops I've never tried before, I just told him to print out the recipe, grab all of the ingredients for it in the house, and have at it. He and his parents made this new dinner, cleaned up, played with the kids til bedtime, and got them into bed. I didn't do a damn thing all day but moan and groan (and NOT the good kind of moanin' & groanin' wink, wink)
Yes, DH saved my ass this weekend.
But, alas, the poor bastard got sick after his parents left the next day and now I had to take care of him, and my daughter and son who each caught it a second time......... |
