We've all been sick for the past week or so, but Harper (I thought) managed to avoid anything but a slightly stuffy nose. Yesterday, she started running a fever and coughing. Last night, her fever spiked up to 103.5 and stayed there and she cried any time we touched her. We spent ~all day~ today in the pediatric ER (with the other two kids because both of our emergency childcare options are out of town). Poor kid was cathed, had blood drawn and a saline lock put in, had these weird nasal swabs done for viral cultures, and had chest xrays. Thankfully, she doesn't appear to have RSV or pneumonia, and isn't exhibiting enough signs of meningitis to warrant a lumbar puncture ( ), so they sent us home. It's so pathetically sweet-- she is miserable, but she keeps trying to smile and coo whenever she musters up enough energy.
One funny thing about today (or at least, funny to me on fifteen minutes of sleep) We stopped to eat on the way home since we were all starving. While we were eating, Ainsley (2) stuck her chopsticks straight into her spicy tuna roll and said (loudly) "This looks like a penis." I think the whole restaurant heard her. |

| Oh, poor baby! I'm so sorry she had to go through all that! |

Oh, man. That sucks. I hope she's feeling better and that she gets it out of her system before Christmas (if you celebrate Christmas).
Nothing makes you feel more like a mom than when you're kids are sick, nothing makes you feel more vulnerable either. I hate seeing my babies sick. |

Exactly. I've (luckily) never had a little baby sick before. It's so scary.
Passed out on our bed:
Oh, and I just reread my original post-- Ainsley was eating a California roll, to clarify. I don't let my 2 year old eat raw tuna! |
